CAREER
Mamata, who proudly describes herself as a Lancashire lass, started her career as a trainee solicitor in September 1998 in a sole practitioner’s firm at Fish & Co Solicitors in Wolverhampton undertaking all aspects of work in Family as well as Criminal law. Mamata also gained experience in Mental Health law representing patients who were detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 at Mental Health Review Tribunals. For the last few years Mamata has been specialising in Family law and in July 2007 was accredited by " Resolution " as a specialist family lawyer with particular specialism's in Advocacy Children and Private Children Law. Mamata remained with Fish & Co Solicitors following qualification in May 2000 until August 2007 when she joined Talbots and from 1st December 2007, was appointed Head of Publicly Funded Family Department and became an Associate member of the firm.
Mamata also boasts qualification and experience in family mediation having qualified in September 1998, both in Children Only and All Issues Mediation. She was also recognised by the Legal Services Commission (then Legal Aid Board) in November 1998 as LAB recognised Mediator in Children Only Mediation. Before starting her legal career, she worked as an Assistant Co-coordinator for Lancashire Family Mediation Service where she ran the Service, represented the Service at regional and national conferences , and delivered presentations to various organisations and of course worked as a mediator.

EDUCATION
Mamata was educated in Preston, Lancashire from nursery to degree level having attended Lancashire University. As part of the degree programme, Mamata spent eight months studying at the Berlin University of Social Policy in Germany and lived with a German family absorbing the culture, history and the language. She also took the opportunity to explore the splendour and cultural diversities of various European cities and towns with fellow students. She then obtained her CPE and Legal Practice Qualifications at Wolverhampton University in 1995 working and studying to minimise post graduate student debts.
LEISURE
Mamata is happily married with two daughters and describes motherhood as a lifetime learning curve, with every moment spent with her daughters being precious given that she works on a full time but “flexible” basis.
She and her husband work as a team to juggle and achieve a fair work/life balance. Mamata enjoys playing the harmonium, aerobics, badminton squash and yoga (when she can these days) but more often than not finds time to read novels. Mamata also enjoys cooking , experimenting and inventing new flavours and dishes ready for the family to indulge and enjoy…..

Mamata has in the past participated in national Hindu sports festival partaking in debate competitions as well as women’s football, badminton and an Indian sport called Kor Kor. She has from a young age taken part in local and national cultural events and taken central roles in various plays staged for the yearning audiences of all ages.
DID YOU KNOW THAT………………..?
Mamata appeared on a Granada Television debate programme which ran for six weeks discussing topical issues relevant to young people and later on the Dance Energy programme on BBC 2 for four weeks when she was much younger showing off her cardio funk leg moves. Mamata has also lobbied the government at the Houses of Parliament and at 10 years old won the Lancashire County School Prize for designing equipment for use by disabled people.
She is fluent in Gujarati and Hindi.
